HOW TO FIND BUKIT JAMBUL (JAMBUL HILLS)?

Bukit Jambul is located not far from Mount Agung which is part of Karangasem regency. The surrounding natural scenery is very beautiful, stunning, and charming. Bukit Jambul is at an altitude of 500 m above sea level. From the top of the crested hill, tourists will see the scenery of the hills as well as the combination of rice terrace fields.

TIRTA GANGGA PARK

Tirta Gangga Park is a beautiful park with the huge water fountain and wide pond located at Abang Sub-district, Karangasem Regency in east part of Bali. Tirta Gangga Park is built in the year of 1948 by the Karangasem King of Anak Agung Agung Angluerah Ketut Karangasem. Before this park is found, there is big wellspring found in this area which the local society believe that this water come from the land is holy spring therefore they call this place is Embukan means wellspring. According to the local believe that this wellspring functioning as a bath place for the god and also used as drinking water for the local community from the nearest village. Therefore this wellspring is sacrificed by local people and keeps the park naturally. The King of Karangasem has got an idea to improve this park into a good looking and nowadays, it becomes one of the famous tourist destinations in east part of Bali.

A MAGICAL WELLSPRING IN EAST OF BALI

Tirta Gangga Park is also featured by the wide public pool with the cool and clean water where it can be used by everyone who visiting this place. It is situated on the foot Abang Hill with cool temperature in particular night time or morning time. The lush tropical garden are well surround the park and big fish ponds are running away at another ponds to give the impression for every tourist who pay a visit to this beautiful park. Some building and other decorations are intentionally made as according to the spirit from Puri Agung Karangasem (Agung Karangasem Place), so it can be said that between Tirta Gangga and Sukasada Park (Taman Sukasada) which is located at Ujung countryside is a union.

Tirta Gangga is strategically located beside of the main strait from Karangasem to Singaraja Town and it is just 20 minuts from the local town or 2 hours and 15 minutes from Denpasar Town. TENGANAN VILLAGE

Tenganan Village is one of the oldest Balinese Traditional located in Karangasem Regency, east part of Bali. This village is much referred by cultural literature science of Tenganan Pegringsingan, which is very famous in the island. It own very unique local community life pattern which is one example of Bali Aga Villlage cultures (Hindu Prehistoric) and different with other countryside in plain of Bali. GUA LAWAH / BAT CAVE

Gua Lawah or Bat Cave is one of favorite places of interest in Bali and it is located near of hilly bank so it is called reef of Middle hill. This cave is located in Pasinggahan countryside, Dawan sub district, Klungkung Regency, east part of Bali and about 1,5 hours from Denpasar Town. There is a nature cave dwelt by thousands of tail bat located at north side from Jeroan/ Center of Gua Lawah Temple. Meanwhile the main roadfrom Klungkung Amplapura is just in front of the temple. This cave is apposite to the beautiful beach with black sand along the coastal area.

Gua Lawah, a shrine for Balinese Hindu

Pursuant to the papyrus of Dwi Jendra Tattwa, the Gua Lawah’s name is Gua Lelawah, the name which is given by Danghyang Nirartha( a priest overspread the Hindu teaching in Bali) when he stop in this place on his Tirtha Yatra trips. He arrive at a cave which is a lot of bats hang on and its unbroken voice clamor as hymn to add the beauty of the cave. Therefore this cave is named by Gua Lawah/ Bat Cave. On the above cave is growth by the flower trees with it’s smelt fragrance and stimulus the peace mind of Danghyang Nirartha, so that he vernight stay for some nights in this place. From the cave we see also the beautiful coast with the blue ocean with Nusa Penida Island as a backdrop.

Gua Lawah Temple History
  • According to the chronicle of Bendesa Mas, it mentions that the elaborations of Mpu Kuturan (a Hindu priest who come from Java) the he live in Bali which has been hosted in Silayukti, Padang Bai. He also builds some temple like Gua Lawah Temple.
  • According to the Papyrus of Dwijendra Tattwa, it narrates that after Danghyang Nirartha stay some nights at Goa Lawah, then he build a Kahyangan Temple on the ground. It means that Danghyang Nirartha extends the Palinggih or temple building existing at Gua Lawah Temple.
